Bulkhead Replacement Project Completed

The bulkhead on the west side of the lake is being replaced.

While the contracted company informed us the work would take one week, it has been delayed and still underway due to rain, threat of hurricanes and the highwater level in the lake. Project was to be completed in September, but it is still ongoing. We apologize for the inconvenience and the noise of the equipment.

The company will replace all landscaping and the parking area to “better than before” condition when the job is completed.

Finally, a bulkhead is in place:

Last day after the work is completed. Just cleaning up now and replanting.

This is the finished concrete bulkhead. Final work will be to add the sod and clean up the parking lot.

This is the image of the broken bulkhead as the work was beginning. It turned out that the drain pipe itself was not broken. The original concrete was poured without any rebar (the metal bars that hold the concrete together) and so it just broke in half with age. There was no noticeable loss of soil from behind it.

A special thanks to our volunteer board members for everything that they do.
