Code of Conduct for Board Members

The Jupiter Lakes Villas COA Board of Directors Code of Conduct

The 2025 Board of Directors has decided to create and institute a Code of Conduct for Board Members. Working with our COA Lawyer we created the following document so that Board Members can sign this agreement every year going forward after each election.

After the election meeting in 2026 the Board will have its normal Organizational meeting and on the agenda for that meeting is to vote to accept the Code of Conduct and have the newly elected Directors sign and agree to the code.

Hopefully setting a standard for all JLV COA Boards to come.

Why this Code of Conduct?

Last year, one of our elected board members shared confidential information with individuals who are not part of the board. During the planning and discussion stages of a project, open dialogue among board members is essential for the free exchange of ideas and opinions. It is inappropriate for a board member to share these internal discussions with outsiders.

As a result of this breach, certain individuals began claiming they had inside knowledge of potential board plans—well before the board had even decided to place any items on a formal meeting agenda for discussion. This secondhand information has since surfaced in letters, documents, and neighborhood gossip, fueling speculation that the board operates with a hidden agenda contrary to the community’s best interests.

Such behavior erodes trust and confidence in the JLV COA Board and undermines the very purpose and integrity of the board’s role in the community.
